Probably the most outstanding aspects of this safari were the flamingoes in the Ngorongoro Crater. At that time we were permitted to get close to the lake and the Flamingoes. The migration herd was in evidence in the Seronera area of the Serengeti where there was plenty of grazing and water. We spent time watching the very skittish Zebra drinking and the Wildebeest following - even more skittish. We also had a memorable sighting of 14 adult Lions in a flat topped Acacia tree now known as the "Lion Tree".
It was the first safari to Tarangiri National Park, and although we saw the renowned "cheeky Elephants" and a range of other wildlife, including the very scarce Painted Wild Dog, the vegetation was dense and water widespread. This Park, we learned, is better at other times of the year during the dryer months. We did however see some special birds.
One aspect of this safari which has had a major impact on all our subsequent safaris is that we met Emillion, a highly competent and capable guide who has become a personal friend, and is now an essential part of any Safari that we undertake. He is our Head Guide and we do enjoy his ability and friendship.
