4/6/2004 to 11/6/2004.
This was the first trip to this part of the world and the culmination of a life-long ambition. The booking was made through a Travel Agent and we were totally ignorant about where we were going. Being the first Safari, we had no preconceived ideas as to what to expect and were very impressed by what we saw.
The migration herd was in the central Serengeti area and well massed. We realised how large this herd was when we saw the Wildebeest move into a "new area" one evening and when we went back the next morning saw it completely grazed out. Truly amazing.
We saw plenty of Lion but sadly no Leopard and only one very distant Cheetah. This Safari inspired us enough to want to go back the next year. We were also able to start thinking about the lodges that we stayed in.
My camera equipment in 2004 and 2005 consisted of the old film cameras, with limited lens capability.
